Ann Turiano is an actor, director, dramaturge, and playwright from Pittsburgh, PA. While in Pittsburgh, Ann worked as the Assistant to the Director at Pittsburgh Filmmakers while also spending 6 seasons starring as Caroline Boyd in Something to Be Desired, the web’s longest running sitcom. Ann also served on the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra’s New Leadership Board.
Ann relocated to Baltimore, MD in 2009 to work as the Program Associate for Individual Artist Awards & Fellowships at the Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation. During her time at MAAF, she also worked to launch On Screen/In Person, a regional touring program for independent filmmakers. Prior to Iron Crow Theatre, she was a company member at the Baltimore Shakespeare Factory and spent a season as the Literary Manager at Glass Mind Theatre. She regularly teaches playwriting, devising, acting, and improvisation to both children and adults.
As an actress, Ann has performed with Single Carrot Theatre, Glass Mind Theatre, Compass Rose Theatre, Center Stage Theatre, and Iron Crow Theatre. This fall, she will join the cast of Baltimore’s immersive theatre experience, The Mesmeric Revelations of Edgar Allan Poe.
Ann holds a B.A. in Acting from the Conservatory of Performing Arts at Point Park University and after graduating early, joined the Dramaturgy strand of the Advanced Theatre Practice (Devised and Collaborative Theatre) program at the Central School of Speech and Drama in London. In this unique and experimental program, Ann joined students from 14 other countries in a laboratory setting to produce new work, earning a Master of Art degree. With a passion for new play development and devised work, she looks forward to finding new approaches for creating queer theatre in Baltimore.
