IRON CROW THEATRE introduces education and community initiatives like never before.

Backstage@Centerstage, Campus Recruiting, and More.

BALTIMORE, Maryland - October 4, 2015: Iron Crow Theatre will be expanding it’s recruiting efforts to a number of local college campuses while also participating in Backstage@CenterStage, a free fall Baltimore event. Beginning in October, through the middle of next year, Iron Crow Theatre will be found on college campuses across the city to recruit the brightest and most promising actors, artists, designers and interns and to share with the larger community the theatre’s new expanded focus and goals. This initiative kicks off at Morgan State University on October 14, 2015 at their annual career fair. Other universities to be attended include Loyola University of Maryland, Notre Dame of Maryland University, MICA (Maryland Institute College of Art) and Stevenson University.

Iron Crow Theatre was also for the first time, a part of Backstage@CenterStage - an event hosted by Center Stage theatre, the state theatre of Maryland who's focus is on civic and community engagement. This annual event took place on October 3, 2015, and featured backstage tours, workshops and demonstrations - including one hosted by Iron Crow Theatre’s Director of Education, Outreach and Literature, Mrs. Ann Turiano.

“The fall season brings lots of face time with colleges and universities as we recruit for the best and the brightest. Out in the community, we are doing a lot of listening and we’re interested in hearing from all age groups and stakeholders. As we plan for our next season, expect education programs that reflect the diversity of our city and respond to the need for continued conversation around the understanding of queer,” said Turiano.

IRON CROW THEATRE is the theatre of mischief and subversion, a queer theatre celebrating the renegade and the unorthodox, in all of us, reflecting the diverse stories of our community and the world in which we live. We produce and create professional new work, re-imagine well-known stories, and seek out innovative scripts. Our work ignites conversation and all voices are welcome.
